How to Measure Your Hound

How to measure:
What you need
To measure your hound you'll need either a soft measuring tape, or a piece of string and a ruler. If using string, wrap it around the measuring point, mark it, then measure the length against your ruler.
Chest
Wrap your tape measure around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
Length
Measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, with your hound's head in a natural raised position.
Head
Measure around the widest part of your hound's head, just in front of the ears - this is the widest point a martingale collar needs to slip over.
Neck
Measure around the neck where the collar will sit, usually at the base.
Sizing Tips
Winter Coats: Length is the most important measurement when sizing for a coat. Get this one right and everything else follows.
Sweaters & Onesies: If your hound sits between two sizes, always size up. A little extra room is far better than a squeeze.
